Background: When Nox was 16, she was in the top of her class and had many friends. She wasn’t necessarily popular like some of the stuck up rich girls, but everyone loved her personality and she was super sweet so people loved being around her.
Prom was coming up in 2 months and she really wanted to go with this really cute guy in her Chemistry class. They were lab partners so they talked a lot, but she was scared to bring up Prom. One tuesday while doing a lab, he asked her if she would go with him. Nox was so thrilled that she had to get everything planned right away. That weekend her mom had to work, so Nox dragged her dad out to go prom dress shopping. They went to a prom dress shop and many dresses later, she found a beautiful pink dress fit for a princess. Nox fell in love and then bought matching shoes and a tiara. When they got into the car to go home she was so excited that she forgot to put on her seatbelt. She was so happy; her smile could replace the sun because she was shining so bright.
……Then things went bad

Her dad was driving down a two lane back road when an idiot sped up on them from behind in a sports car going WAY over the speed limit. The person began to pass when it was not a passing zone and it was on a big turn. The sports car and them were side by side when they came out of the turn and there was a car coming in the opposite lane. The car seen the sports car and swerved, but instead of swerving off the road, it swerved into their lane and caused a head on collision. It happened so fast they couldn’t avoid it. Since Nox didn’t have on her seatbelt, she went right through the window (Hence all of her scars). You would think that she would have died, but miraculously she didn’t. However, her dad did. The force was so hard that when the air bag came out it broke his neck.

Nox woke up in the hospital two weeks later from a concussion. And then after two more weeks they let her go home. She didn’t want to talk or eat. She was sinking into a depression from losing her father and the fact that she is permanently scarred all over her body for life. She finally went back to school and everyone greeted her with smiles and hugs, but all they got back in return was silence and a blank expression. Prom came along and she told the cute guy that she wasn’t going. She didn’t want to wear something so revealing that would show more of her scars. She thought she was ugly and she hated herself for her father’s death and she believed with all of her heart that everyone at school thought the same. Of course there were meanies who would call her a freak and ugly, but her friends tried to help her, but nothing was working. They eventually stopped trying. They gave her space, but once 11th grade came around and Nox was no better, they gave up hope that their fun, happy, loving Nox would return. Nox’s mom couldn’t handle seeing her daughter suffer so badly so she got Nox in with a teen therapist. For the first month nothing changed, but then Nox started to eat more. Then she started to talk and show emotion. All of her friends noticed and were relieved so they started hanging out with her again to help her through. Nox eventually started to become who she once was. Her eyes gained back that sparkle and her laughter was once again contagious and spread joy. Her therapist taught her that it wasn’t her fault that her dad died and that she shouldn’t look upon the times they won’t get to be together, but to look upon the wonderful times they had. The therapist also taught Nox that although she has scars on her body doesn’t mean she is ugly. She is beautiful on the outside and the inside. People don’t see scars, they see her beautiful eyes and smile and her glorious personality. Once she got in 12th grade, she was just like the girl she used to be and when prom came around, that cute boy in Chemistry from 10th grade asked her to prom once again. This time, she put on that beautiful pink dress and went. Everyone finally got a chance to see the majority of her scars, but nobody stared. They all agreed that she was the most beautiful one there.

Now Nox is 23 and she is a teen therapist. She was so inspired how her therapist helped her and she wanted to do the same for other teens going through tragedies, insecurities, abuse, etc. She sometimes even goes to schools and tells her story to the teens to let them know that it’s ok to ask for help and that they can get through anything. She doesn’t want to let any kid out there feel the way she felt back then. She wants to do anything in her power to help them.
